Paul Nelson

Board Member

Mr. Paul R. Nelson has an extensive background in local government and public works administration, water conservation, and long-range water planning. During his 28 years of service at the City of Houston, he was involved in the City’s wholesale water contracts, ascertaining the availability of water and securing surface water rights. After retiring from the City as Deputy Director of Public Works, he worked as a water conservation coordinator for the North Harris County Regional Water Authority before joining the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District in Montgomery County, where he served as the Assistant General Manager until his retirement in 2017.

Mr. Nelson is a member of the City of Houston Planning Commission and the Trinity and San Jacinto Rivers and Galveston Bay Basin and Bay Area Stakeholders group. He serves as a director for the Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 7 and is the current President of The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont.
