Overview

The Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC,) manager of the Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems (EFD) Program, seeks written Statement of Qualifications from interested multimedia production companies (hereinafter referred to as “Multimedia Producer”) to provide professional art, animation, and programming services for the development of web based animations that employs state-of-the-art computer graphics, simulation, and video.

Background

The EFD Program provides unbiased science to address environmental and societal aspects of all oil and gas activities. Within the EFD Program, the EFD Virtual Site (www.efdvirtualsite.org), hosted by Ralph and Rhonda Roughneck™ provides visitors with information about oil and gas operations, research and best practices. The goal is to engage users in understanding how environmental awareness is embedded in oil and gas operations.

Project Description

The EFD Program is expanding the EFD Virtual Site to include offshore operations as well as other onshore operations. The EFD Program seeks to qualify potential contractors to work with the program team in the development of these enhancements. Deliverables may include script, draft animation and final animation. Animations will also be used at various exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
The long term benefit of the project is to educate operators, contractors, legislators, administrators and the public on how environmentally friendly drilling (EFD) technologies are used to reduce the environmental tradeoffs associated with oil and natural gas developments.
The vision is to have the animations that interact with the viewer. This may include a menu that allows the viewer to select EFD technologies. When a technology is selected, an explanation is given of the technology.
