HARC's EFD team and Gulf Coast Green Energy produce electricity from flare gas
HARC's EFD team and Gulf Coast Green Energy successfully completed the installation and commissioning of the Power Plus Organic Rankine cycle generator to produce electricity from flare gas at the Bakken Shale in North Dakota. HARC’s engineers, Satish Ravindran, Research Associate, Clean Energy Technology, and Chris Ruffer, Research Assistant, Energy Production, were present during the installation period, July 27-August 3, 2015.
The trial project is funded by Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America grant. Hess is the operator of the test well site. The pilot will run for 90 days and HARC will be monitoring the emissions reduced from flaring.
